ABOW's National Pilates Day Celebration

It was a beautiful day to take a free Pilates class this past Monday, May 3rd! In celebration of National Pilates Day, we offered three free Pilates classes that were open to the public! Lead by ABOW instructors Margaret Tappan, Lisa Chang Wilson, and Annie Leonard, this event was a ton of fun and a great intro to our new outdoor group classes! For this event and continuing for select classes on Mondays and Tuesdays, classes took place on the Presidio Social Club Exchange’s newly expanded patio! We’re so grateful to PSCX for allowing us to use their space, which served as a beautiful backdrop for some healthy movement.

Starting bright and early at 9 AM, Margaret lead a Power Pilates class that focused on emphasizing balance, control, and core strength. This class was intimate and relaxing, with the sounds of the Presidio playing in the background. Following that was our 12 PM Sculpt Pilates class with Lisa, a dynamic strength training workout targeting the glutes, thighs, and core. Perfect for a midday pick-me-up, this class was fun and energizing! Finally our last – and most popular! – class was Annie’s 5:30 PM Pilates and Gyrotonic class that focused on flexibility, strength, and balance. We loved seeing so many new faces for this class and that many of the participants signed up with their friends for a fun activity after work!

We’re so happy to say that participants loved all three classes and walked away with free ABOW Therabands and stickers! We hope to throw more events like this in the future, so be sure you’re signed up for our newsletter to be the first to know! If you couldn’t make it out to this event, but still want to take a class with us, check out our group classes for our full schedule including outdoor, online, and hybrid classes.
