Moshe Feldenkrais understood that many of our aches and pains and losses of function occur because of a lack of self-awareness. He discovered that improvements can occur quickly if we better understand what we are doing and learn how to do something different. During his lifetime he created hundreds of Awareness through Movement® lessons: guided movement experiments designed both to illuminate our particular habits of organization and to help us find easier, more efficient alternatives.
In this workshop, we will do a few of his lessons. They will be spacious, giving you ample time to be with the questions above, and to listen for responses and any new questions that may arise. You will be encouraged to move* and learn at your own pace. Emphasis will be placed on developing your internal sense of how you move and finding clearer support for your movements. This will be a good introductory workshop as well as a place for deeper reflections. Questions welcome!
*Please note, most of the movements will be done lying on the floor. Yoga mats and blankets will be provided; if you need additional padding or props, please do bring them.
